Looking to relocate to a business-friendly state? MarketMAPS looks at why Texas is considered the best state for businesses.
Texas has done it again. According to a CNBC study, Texas is the best state for businesses…and has been for the last three years. The CNBC rating comes from a score in ten different categories, which include:
Cost of Doing Business
Quality of Life
Infrastructure & Transportation
Technology & Innovation
Access to Capital
Cost of Living
CNBC used 51 metrics developed with the help of the National Association of Manufacturers and the Council on Competitiveness to rate every state. Texas scored 1,604 out of 2,500 points.
According to the study, Texas has the best infrastructure in the country—a great support system of roads, bridges, and public transportation. It has the third lowest cost of living, and a workforce that ranks 7th in the nation.
Persisting through a budget crisis last year, Texas regained its footing, emerging with its sterling, triple-A bond rating and stable outlook intact. Although Texas had to make some drastic cuts this year—including raising taxes and cutting education—it still ranks as the #1 best state for businesses.
Searching for the best business location takes planning. Texas may be the best overall state for businesses, but is it the right place for you? When you’re asking yourself where the best place to relocate your business to is, try using a map.
