The Maldives are known for their luxurious hotels and romantic scenery.  But if sitting in a hotel room doesn’t do it for you, venture outside and dive into some of the most crystalline waters on Earth.  An abundance of aquatic animals and coral makes this a necessary stop for any diving or snorkeling enthusiast.

Cayo Coco, Cuba

This relatively untouched island is linked to mainland Cuba by a 27 kilometer-long causeway.  The island is home to many luxury resorts and has only recently gained international recognition for its superb diving conditions.

Cala Macarelleta, Spain

Probably one of the least crowded beaches in Spain, Cala Macarelleta is located on the Mediterranean island of Menorca.  To reach this beach, you will have to leave your car behind—the only way to get there is by foot or boat.  Don’t worry, the clear waters more than make up for the trek.

To Sua Trench, Samoa

This trench may be hard to get to (follow the faded sign if you are heading east; if you are heading west, good luck finding your way), but its well worth it.  The name To Sua closely translates to “big swimming hole.”  Climb down into 33 meters of clear ocean water.  Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, jump in!

Crater Lake, Oregon

Visibility at Crater Lake has been measured at about 43.3 meters, making it demonstrably one of the clearest lakes in the world.  Swimming in Crater Lake is permitted, but be warned: it’s a steep journey down jagged rocks.  Getting down isn’t much of a problem, but getting back up sure can be.
